If I were to ask you, what are the places that ones must visit in Sydney, I’m sure everyone will answer The Opera House, Bondi Beach, Darling Harbour, Fish Market etc. Well, let me add one more to your list – “The Grounds of Alexandria”. And if you are a coffee lover like me, then there is absolutely no reason why you would miss it!
For the Sydney-siders, “The Grounds of Alexandria” is no news to them. It is a “super cafe” located in the inner west city fringe suburb of Alexandria Melbourne. It is not just an ordinary cafe, but one that you could spend a whole day exploring on a Saturday!
“The Grounds” is made up of coffee roaster, café, bakery, bar, restaurant, outdoor garden, weekend market, florist and a mini farm all within this acre of land in Sydney. It is pack all week long, and especially on the weekend, because of the amazing weekend market they have.

“The Grounds” is a great place for EVERYONE! For family with kids, they provide different fun activities suitable for kids, including the mini farm; for friends gathering, the Garden is the best place to chill and catch up over a beer and burger; and for couples, you would absolutely enjoy a simple, yet delicious meal at the Potting Shed.

You are going to enjoy EVERYTHING here, the only time when you may get a bit annoyed is the waiting and queuing you will experience, especially during the weekend. A wait of 30mins into the Cafe is consider normal, if you come here in big group, expect the wait to be an hour or so. But hey! Don’t worry! You could walk around, visit the florist, drink a beer, take some photos while you wait. There are just so much going on here, that you wouldn’t mind the wait!
